What is the Immanuel Approach?
Developed primarily by Dr. Karl Lehman, Christian Psychiatrist, the Immanuel Approach is a Christian healing modality that combines modern neuroscience with spiritual practices to establish an interactive connection with Jesus. The core objective is to shift the focus from “fixing symptoms” to building a deeper intimacy with God, viewing emotional healing as a natural byproduct of that relationship. It utilizes “relational circuits” in the brain, which must be “online” for a person to effectively connect with others and God. Sessions begin by recalling a positive memory and stirring up deliberate appreciation. This physiological state helps “turn on” the brain’s relational centers, making the person more receptive to perceiving God’s presence.
